Guatemalan Huipil and Xela Leather Crossbody Bag, Wheat pastel vintage huipil
This bag is absolutely one of our favorites! It is fun and flirty which is why we called it “La Coqueta”.
The bag is made from a vintage Huipil (pronounced wee-peel), which is a blouse traditionally worn by Mayan women. Each design is different and tells a story of the woman who created it. A huipil is woven on a backstrap loom, which consists of 5-6 pieces of wood and a strap that goes around the weaver’s waist, making her part of the loom.
The outer zipper provides a wide-opening for easy access in and out of the bag.
Measures: 12” Long x 8” H x 2” W
This bag is made with Xela Leather and luxury Corte in the interior.
With the added interior pockets, this bag is as functional as it is beautiful.
Adjustable shoulder strap can be worn over the shoulder or as a crossbody.
Made in collaboration with an artisan family in Antigua, Guatemala from a small workshop, providing steady work and fair wages.
