Antique Bird Huipil and Xela Leather Convertible Day Bag
This rare antique bird huipil is circa '70 from Chichicastenago. The muted background makes the colors so vivid. The Xela leather is the most luxurious available. This bag has pockets inside and out, with a gorgeous neckline creating a pocket on the front to make it easy to grab your keys, lipstick, sunglasses quickly. Trimmed in Xela Tan, soft leather, complete with a three tassels.
This is a vintage huipil, pronounced "wee-peel”, worn as the traditional blouse of Mayan women. It is woven on a back strap loom, a tradition that dates back many centuries. It has been re-purposed into this beautiful bag that will last a lifetime.
