Medium-Size Vintage Huipil and Cafe Leather Convertible Day Bag
This is a rare cream vintage huipil, prounounced "wee-peel" made in Chichicastenango, Guatemala. It was woven on a backstrap loom as a traditional blouse worn by Mayan women. The huipil is what we would call a "hand-me-down" and recycled into a one-of-a-kind Convertible Day Bag.
Trimmed in the finest, luxury Xela leather and lined in sparkle-threaded Corte, this Convertible Day Bag is magnificent.
There are hidden, zippered pockets on the front and back with three removable leather tassels added for extra flair.
The interior Corte, the traditional fabric of skirts worn by Mayan women has sparkle threads. There are three interior pockets, including one zippered pocket.
This bag is made in a small, family-owned shop in Antigua, Guatemala, continuing their culture and heritage of weaving and bagmaking. Our artisans set their prices to ensure that they receive a fair wage.
